Slideable Flex-'Samsung'

Samsung Electronics' 17-inch slideable display was unveiled for the first time in the world. It is a display for PC that expands to 17 inches by pulling it from the 13-inch size.

In general, the larger the size of the display, the more sophisticated technology is required. It is said that it is only a matter of time before Samsung Electronics introduces the world's first tablet PC as well as rollable and slideable smartphones.

Samsung Display CEO ‘Joo Seon Choi’ unveiled Samsung Display, which has a stretchable screen, for the first time at the Intel Innovation 2022 event held at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, California on the 27th.

On this day, Intel CEO ‘Pat Gelsinger’ announced a strategy to maximize user experience and said, “I will introduce a partner”, and CEO ‘Choi’ appeared on the stage. In his hand was a display the size of a tablet PC.

President ‘Choi’ said, "I'm here to show that Samsung Display and Intel can provide the best experience by combining hardware and software," and pulled one side of the screen of the display he was holding. The 13-inch screen has been increased to 17 inches. The product is known for a growing number of PC displays made based on flexible OLED (organic light emitting diode).

President ‘Choi’ also hinted at the possibility of releasing rollable or slideable phones and tablet PCs in the near future. “The foldable is over. Now the slideable display begins,” he said. “We will see a better user experience soon.”

Although foldable (folding) tablet PCs and laptops have been released so far, no rollable or slideable tablet PCs have been released.

Meanwhile, the product is still a prototype, and it is reported that the screen is being stretched with a button instead of by hand. The name of the display is 'Slideable Flex'.
