"CONCRETE UTOPIA" (Movie) (Aug. 9)
"Concrete Utopia" is an upcoming
Korean disaster-thriller film directed by 'Um Tae-hwa' and starring 'Lee
Byung-hun', 'Park Seo-joon' and 'Park Bo-young'.
The film is based on webtoon which is
about an earthquake destruction and its aftermath. It is scheduled to be
released in
theaters on
Aug. 9.
The film “Concrete Utopia” was
presold in 152 countries prior to its release in August.
Director 'Um Tae-hwa' said during a
press conference for “Concrete Utopia”.
"Concrete Utopia" is not
just a simple disaster film, but a 'human black comedy' that explores how
people connect and survive after a disaster.
"Concrete Utopia" is about what happens to the people in the aftermath of a disaster and shows different sides of human instincts when put to an extreme situation.
“Apartments are where most Koreans
spend their daily lives. I thought it would be interesting to depict what
people do in such a disaster.
"Concrete Utopia" depicts the story of survivors living in the 'Imperial Palace Apartment', the only apartment complex that did not suffer from an earthquake in Seoul.
