"MAMA" (Mnet Asian Music Awards)
The
two day “Mnet Asian Music Awards” (MAMA) - 2022, which saw this year’s
hottest K-pop acts take home honors, came to a close on Nov. 30.
The
2022 Mama Awards took place over two days at the Kyocera Dome in Osaka,
Japan.
'J-Hope'
of BTS, who won Most Popular Male Artist this year and performed his solo
numbers “More”, “Arson” and “Future” on stage Wednesday, delivered an
acceptance speech on behalf of the whole band.
“We
wish all seven of us were here," he said. "For BTS, 2022 was full of
challenges, adversities and efforts to overcome them," 'J-Hope' said.
"Each of the members are continuing to grow. Please send support to their
individual journeys."
'J-Hope'
also surprised the crowd during the speech by calling his bandmate 'Jin', set
to enlist for his mandatory military service on Dec. 13, on the phone and
putting him on loudspeaker.
"I'll
go serve in the military well and come back!" 'Jin' said via the
call.
The
ceremony featured performances from boy bands 'Enhypen', 'Tempest' and
'Treasure', as well as from Japanese idol groups 'INI' and 'NiziU'. K-pop
artists such as rock band 'Jaurim' and girl group '(G)I-DLE', which won
'Favorite Female Group' joined forces for a collaborative performance.
Girl
group 'ITZY' premiered its latest lead track "Cheshire" through a
performance at the ceremony.
The
event was livestreamed to over 200 regions around the world.
