They are known as a big fan of Samsung's smartphones.

Samsung Electronics President 'Roh Tae-moon' appeared on the stage and announced, “We are proud to host Unpacked from this vibrant city known for world-leading technology and culture.”

He also showed confidence in the South Korean tech giant solidifying the No. 1 position in the foldable market as the world’s first smartphone maker to roll out a foldable phone, the Galaxy Fold in 2019.

“Already, more than half-of-all smartphone users say they are considering a foldable phone for their next upgrade, and Samsung Galaxy leads this fast-growing category as the preferred brand, for foldables. We are so excited to introduce you to the newest additions to the Galaxy ecosystem: Galaxy Z Fold5, Galaxy Z Flip5 and more”.

Samsung promoted the compact design, a variety of customizable features and drastic improvements to the overall functions of its latest foldable smartphone series. In particular, the display's new water drop-style hinge design, called the “Flex Hinge”, makes the new phones thinner than their predecessors.

The company made the Z Fold 5 phone lighter and thinner, while improving its battery efficiency and performance. The S Pen Fold Edition, which allows the use of a stylus, has been slimmed down to 4.35 millimeters from the previous version's 7.4 millimeters.

He also stressed that the new foldable smartphones are durable enough to endure tough conditions and are equipped with superior batteries and the most intelligent cameras.

Samsung enhanced the durability of its new foldable smartphones by using thicker shockproof layers and props behind their displays, as well as adding IPX8-rated water resistance, armor aluminum frames and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 scratch-resistant display materials.

Another type of flexibility seen in Samsung's new foldable smartphones is the "FlexCam" mode, which allows users to take hands-free photos and videos. This function was introduced when the company released the previous version of the Z series.

Those who use the Z Flip 5, a clamshell-style foldable phone, will be able to express their uniqueness with the 86.1-milimeter "Flex Window," according to Samsung, as the exterior cover screen, which is larger than that of the previous version, will enable users to enjoy a greater variety of functions without unfolding their phones.

The Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5 will be released in Korea on Aug. 11, with the presales period to be held between Aug. 1 and 7.

Prices for the Galaxy Z Flip5 range between 1.4 million won ($1,100) and 1.52 million won ($1,190), while the Galaxy Z Fold5 is available for between 2.1 million won ($1,645) to 2.47 million won ($1,935), depending on storage.
