'Jisoo' - "Flower" & "All Eyes On Me"

As BLACKPINK's Jisoo approaches her solo debut, she personally introduced the main points of her first album "ME" ahead of its release.

On March 31 at 1 PM KST, Jisoo will release her first solo album "ME" which showcases her diverse colors that were not seen before through the title track "Flower" and the included track "All Eyes On Me".

On March 30, Jisoo shared her thoughts on the album release through a Q&A format with her agency, YG Entertainment.

Having put in a lot of effort and participated in the overall production process of the album, Jisoo expressed her excitement and anticipation for fans to discover a new Jisoo through her music. She stated, "It was a pleasant journey to find the music that I am the best at and that only I can do. I hope that those who listen to it will discover a new side of Jisoo".

As this is her first album as a solo artist, Jisoo expects to feel a new sense of emotion and she eagerly awaits the reaction of fans who have been waiting for her comeback. She is thrilled to finally show what she has prepared for a long time and hopes that fans will be happy to receive an album filled with Jisoo's charms.

Q: Can you introduce your album?

A: As I was preparing for my album "What is the charm of solo artist Jisoo?", a question mark was floating in my head about what my charm really was. While keeping myself, I wanted to show new and diverse sides of me. It's an album that expresses my inner self after countless thoughts and considerations. I participated in various aspects of the album and approached it with the determination to show a new charm of myself that I didn't even know existed. Through this process of discovering my new charm, I feel that I have grown and become more confident in myself.

Q: What was the focus of the album?

A: I thought about what I could show as a solo artist Jisoo, not as Blackpink's Jisoo, and tried to capture the diverse charms that only I could show. I constantly developed ideas for "music that I am best at and only I can do" and discovered a new side of myself within that process. From music to concept, styling, and music video, I completed an album that tells my story.

Q: Can you tell us about the title track "Flower" and the song "All Eyes On Me"?

A: "Flower" was chosen as the title track because it's a song that represents me the best in terms of vocals, performance and visual elements. From the moment I heard the demo in the studio, it felt like fate. Although it's a dance song, the lyrics are poetic and have a surprising charm and the last part is very addictive.

"All Eyes On Me" is a song that I prepared as a title track candidate and is very dear to me. It has a cheerful yet fatal feeling that I think many people will love.

Q: You set a new record before your comeback, surpassing 1.3 million pre-order sales and achieving the highest sales for a single album by a female solo artist in K-pop history.

A: It feels exciting and amazing to hear the adjective "first" I'm grateful and feel that I need to work harder because so many fans are supporting and anticipating my album. To repay their expectations, I'm doing my best until the end. I'm so happy to release my solo album, as I'm also doing a world tour with fans, and I feel like it's a good fit to release the album in spring when flowers bloom. It's a great start! (laughs).

A: If we were to explain the key points of the music video, it's been a hot topic since the teaser and I'm really satisfied with how it turned out. It was filmed at the Universal Studios New York street set and I have a lot of memorable memories of it. Shooting on an empty street made me feel like I was in the world of the Truman Show. As for a slight spoiler about the music video, there will be fun in discovering something new every time you watch it.

Q: What kind of support did the BLACKPINK members provide?

A: Even in the midst of busy schedules, they always watched over and gave opinions on the preparation process. I gained a lot of courage and confidence from seeing their positive reactions. Rosé, who happened to be in LA, came to the music video shoot. I was even more happy to meet the members in an unexpected situation. I sometimes felt a little lonely doing things alone after always being with the members but when I saw Rosé, it was like my energy was 100% charged. (laughs)

Q: Do you have any plans or goals for this activity?

A: As a solo artist, I have already achieved my goal of meeting fans. If there is something more I want, it's to raise the 'happiness index' of our ‘BLINKs’. I prepared an event for our fans and even wrote a message for ‘BLINKs’ in the album. Even though I'm in the middle of a world tour, I'm trying to create opportunities to communicate with fans more closely outside of the stage. I hope you can join me and gain energy together.

Q: A word to the fans who always support you?

A: I've finally come to meet our ‘BLINKs’! (laughs). I know how much you've been waiting for my new song. I'm also enjoying every day with the excitement of facing something new. Thank you for always being my reliable support team, ‘BLINKs’. Let's make a lot of good memories together.
